Fosterers

Fostering Rescue animals for any organization is probably one of the most challenging jobs in Rescue.  The fosterer welcomes a strange animal into his/her home, a largely unknown quantity often with behavioral, medical, or emotional baggage, and provides it with love and a safe haven while it waits for its forever home to come along.  All the while, the fosterer is learning about the animal, modifying inappropriate behavior, and teaching it the rules of successful family life.  And then he/she must let the animal go to its new home.

Fostering for the Thulani Program is even more difficult, because the German Shepherd is taken into the fosterer’s home with the full knowledge that it has only a limited life expectancy, and that heartbreak will soon follow when the dog crosses to the Rainbow Bridge.

“Knowing her days are fewer, makes us do every thing we can to make each one memorable and special. A good reminder for everything else in life!”
Joan Hoover and Jim Rabjohn

This obviously takes a very special kind of person to take on a task like this.

“Every day of fostering a Thulani dog is rewarding.  We provide a comfortable and loving home, but it does not compare to the unconditional love and happiness we receive in return.”
Emily and Dave Leslie

Without any question, our fosterers are our frontline troops.  Without their dedication and strength, the Thulani Program would be absolutely impossible.  So we would like to give a huge SHOUT OUT to this incredible team of stalwarts.
