Sammi

Hi, My name is Sammi, I’m a little over 10 years old, and I am really happy to be in German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California. I am happiest when I am with my people, big and small, but I also love to be around other dogs and even cats, although some of my doggie friends don’t understand this. Some of my very favorite things to do are going for walks (I just love to sniff everything!!), playing ball with my people, going for car rides, and eating. They tell me I am very well-mannered in the house, sleeping quietly on my pad at night, and spending much of the day quietly saving my energy for the walks and ball games. My foster mom says I am sick, but I think she is wrong. I feel great and do all the things a dog my age should do.

Note from the fosterer: Sammi was rescued from the Berkeley City Shelter where she had been left in the night box along with another dog and a note explaining extreme financial difficulties that made keeping her impossible. She has a 6” diameter inoperable mast cell tumor with a necrotic center on her hip. She also has an array of mammary tumors. She is being treated with prednisone and some other meds that deal with side effects. She is a happy girl that does not seem to be in pain.

Sammi passed away on New Years Day, 2010
